Inflation in Latvia higher than average in EU and Eurozone in January

In January 2023 inflation in Latvia was higher than average in the European Union and Eurozone, according to data published by Eurostat.

Inflation in Latvia was 21.4% in January.

Higher than that it was only in Hungary (26.2%). The Czech Republic had a slightly lower inflation (19.1%). As did Estonia (18.6%) and Lithuania (18.5%).
In January 2023, when compared with January 2022, consumer price rise was observed in all EU member states.

The average inflation in the EU was 10% in January. In Eurozone it was 8.6%.

Compared with December 2022, consumer prices in January 2023 increased by 0.2% in the EU and went down by 0.2% in Eurozone.
In Latvia prices in January have increased by 0.5% when compared with December. In Lithuania and Estonia prices have increased by 0.6%.
Between the two months prices have increased in 15 EU member states. Monthly inflation was the highest in the Czech Republic (+6.6%). The highest monthly deflation was observed in the Netherlands (-1.9%).
