Residents of Vilnius receive surprising bills

Part of Vilnius’ residents have received their heating bills, and with them – a dose of surprise. For most of them, bills were lower than in September, writes Lithuanian media LRT.
A woman who lives in a small 25 square meter apartment told the media that the bill for hot water and a heating coil in September was 27 euros, but in October, when the heating has been on for half a month – only 22 euros. Another resident of Vilnius, Marius, lives in an apartment twice as big (50 square meters) and also had the pleasure of receiving a lower bill than expected: 58 euros, especially when compared to September’s 68 euros. Both live in old buildings.
Vilnius started the heating season on 17 October, and the heating price was expected to be 8.9 cents per kilowatt-hour. The city has temporarily stopped using natural gas and switched to fuel oil to provide hot water and heating for its residents.
