Today, 1 September, air temperature in Latvia will go down slightly. Some areas will experience rainfall, meteorologists predict.
The amount of clouds will be variable, short-term rain is expected as well. In many parts of Kurzeme and south of the Gulf of Riga there is a possibility of thunderstorms with hail.
Maximum air temperature in the afternoon is expected to be between +11° C in Alūksne and up to +17° C in South Kurzeme.
Rain is expected in Riga from time to time. Intensive showers expected as well.
Weather will be dry around afternoon. Rain may return in the evening. In the morning air temperature on Knowledge Day will drop as far as +9° C. Moderate northern wind will blow. Air temperature during the day will not exceed +15° C.
Although on 1 September air temperature will be significantly below the norm. Low air temperature records will not be exceeded.
According to data from Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, air temperature was the lowest on Knowledge Day in 2008, when air temperature was +9.6° C during the day and 0° C… +4° C in morning hours.
