Indrašis: I condemn Russia’s war in Ukraine! I will not play in the aggressor state!

Information published by Russian ice hockey team Spartan about my joining this club is false. I don’t have a contract with this club, Latvian ice hockey player Miks Indrašis announced on his Instagram page.
He said he has a contract with another team. «Spartak is unhappy with my refusal to play in Russia. This is why they resort to such means!»
He adds: «I condemn Russia’s war in Ukraine! I will not play in the aggressor country! I am a Latvian patriot and have always presented my views about my country on the rink, putting on Latvian national ice hockey team’s shirt for multiple World Championships in a row!»
«I have seen many posts from people asking for my actual opinion. I will say the same to all the intelligent people who have made all sorts of inadequate and unpleasant comments in my direction based on unconfirmed information posted by different media outlets and on social network thinking it is the only true information.»
It should be mentioned that Indrašis has spent the last week avoiding attempts by Latvian media to contact him.
Sportacentrs.com portal writes that after information about Indrašis’ contract with Spartak was first reported, Latvian Ice Hockey Federation announced it will not permit the transfer, adding that the whole story may end up in the federation’s disciplinary committee. KHL, on the other hand, has announced the contract was registered in the Central Information Bureau. Other documents are handled by the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, not KHL.
Latvian boxed Mariris Briedis still has not voiced a clear position. The only thing he said is that he is «against the war, but will not take sides».
Because of this position TV3 refused to broadcast his match in Australia.
