Construction of noise-dampening wall commences in Vangaži

Construction of a noise-dampening wall on the left side of Vidzeme motorway (A2) has commenced. The project’s costs are estimated at EUR 1.7 million, as confirmed by Latvian State Roads (LVC) representatives.
LVC representatives said that road traffic organisation signs were installed along the section of the road under construction on Friday. Next week it is planned to commence ground work.

The speed limit along the affected section of the motorway is set at 70 km/h. During active construction work it is planned to be limited to 50 km/h.

It is planned for the wall to reduce the amount of noise residents of Vangaži experience from living close to the motorway. LVC representatives say the project is implemented in accordance with the Action Plan to Reduce Noise Levels and the solutions listed therein.
A combined noise-dampening wall system will be built along 1 055 m of road. The height of the wall will be 3.5 m – 5 m.

According to requirements, the noise-dampening wall needs to ensure sound absorption class A3 or higher, as well as sound isolation class B3.

LVC notes the contract for the construction of the wall was signed with Tilts LLC for EUR 1 701 970.13 (without VAT). The project was developed by Projekts EAE LLC. Construction supervision is done by Ceļuprojekts JSC.
Construction work is planned to be completed by the end of June.
