Three people have died under unclear circumstances in Russia’s Volgograd region, including senior Yandex executive Sergei Loiter, reports Dialog.ua, citing Russian media sources.
The tragic incident occurred on the 24th of April in the Svetloyarsky district of the Volgograd region. Four men had gone fishing, and later law enforcement authorities discovered the bodies of three individuals, including 42-year-old Loiter.
Among the deceased was also Alexander Nazarov, president of the Volgograd-based trade and industrial group BIS, who is described by Russian media as Loiter’s father-in-law.
The fate of the fourth fisherman remains unknown.
Based on the circumstances,
Russian security authorities have launched a criminal investigation
into violations of transport and water safety regulations resulting in the deaths of two or more persons due to negligence.
Sergei Loiter served as commercial director at Yandex for two years. At the time of his death, he was heading the international service Yango, a project developed by the company.
Russian authorities claim that Loiter and the other fishermen died by drowning.
