With Kariņš back in the Saeima, one New Unity member loses her seat

With former Latvian Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš back in the Saeima, Viktorija Baire loses her seat in the parliament, according to information from the Central Election Commission. Baire is currently the chairperson of the Saeima Public Expenditure and Audit Committee.
Kariņš previously turned to the parliament with a request to restore his Saeima deputy’s mandate, as LETA was told by New Unity’s Saeima faction chairman Edmunds Jurēvics.
The head of New Unity’s faction was very positive about Kariņš’s return to the Saeima, to which the politician has all the rights. Jurēvics also reminded that in the 14th Saeima elections Kariņš received the second largest number of votes.
Kariņš returned to the Saeima after stepping down as Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs. He announced his decision to step down last week after the scandal with the use of special flights on foreign missions.
