US endorses vaccinating children 5 to 11 against Covid-19

In the area of children’s vaccination against Covid-19, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention have endorsed a recommendation to start vaccinating children as young as 5 to 11 years against the disease throughout the country, American media organisation CNN reports.
«We know millions of parents are eager to get their children vaccinated and with this decision, we now have recommended that about 28 million children receive a COVID-19 vaccine,» stated Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention director, who endorsed the recommendation, on Tuesday, November 2.

The statement came after the institution’s independent vaccine advisers voted 14-0 in favour of the child-sized doses of vaccine for the younger kids at about one-third of an adult dose.
Which vaccine will be administered to American children?
Last Friday, October 26, the US Food and Drug Administration authorized the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine for this younger age group. The body gave the vaccine the distinction of having the first emergency use authorization for a Covid-19 vaccine for younger kids in the US. The Food and Drug Administration reasoned that the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risk to children, according to CNN.
