Unsettled weather expected on Friday with rain and stronger winds

Friday will bring unsettled weather conditions, with sunshine alternating with clouds in the western part of the country, while skies in the eastern regions will remain mostly overcast with intermittent rain and possible thunderstorms in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

A light to moderate northwesterly to westerly wind will blow, with gusts reaching 15–17 m/s in central and eastern regions. Overnight temperatures will drop to between +5°C and +10°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to +13°C to +18°C.

Over the weekend, sunshine and clouds will alternate in western Latvia, whereas eastern regions will remain mostly cloudy with occasional short-term rain in some places. Winds will remain light. On Saturday night, temperatures will fall to between +3°C and +8°C, while Sunday night temperatures will range from +6°C to +11°C.

During the daytime, temperatures are expected to reach +16°C to +21°C,

although many coastal areas and eastern regions will remain slightly cooler, with temperatures between +11°C and +16°C.

During the first half of next week, the influence of cyclones will bring more frequent precipitation across most of the country. In some areas, clouds may also bring thunderstorms accompanied by sudden strong wind gusts. Daytime temperatures will gradually become warmer, and by Wednesday much of Latvia is expected to experience summer-like warmth, with temperatures rising above +20°C.
