Ukraine prepares for a new Russian attack

The Defense Minister of Ukraine, who will soon leave his post, has announced that Ukraine is preparing for a new attack from Russia already this month, writes the BBC.
Speaking to the media, Oleksiy Reznikov informed that not all western armaments will have reached Ukraine, but that the country has enough reserves to prevent Russian forces from advancing further.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already dismissed several high-level officials, thus showing that a broad campaign against corruption has begun. Oleksii Reznikov will also be replaced, and it is believed that the head of Ukraine’s intelligence services, Kyrylo Budanov, could take his place.
Reznikov has previously indicated that Russia is not fully prepared to launch an attack, but could try to do so to symbolically mark one year since the start of the war. He confirmed that the Ukrainians will start training for the use of the Leopard 2 tank on the 6th of February.

Ukraine has also made a deal for long-range missiles capable of reaching a target up to 150 kilometers away but promises not to use them for attacks on Russian territory, only for shelling Russian positions in occupied Ukrainian territories.

Reznikov said he was confident of Ukraine’s victory, but without Western fighter jets, it would cost many more lives.
Despite the supply of Western armaments, the Russian army has advanced around Bakhmut and is sending more and more troops into the fighting. In many places, the mercenaries Wagner’s group also takes part in the battles.
In his address on the evening of the 5th of February, Zelensky said that the situation in Donetsk is very difficult, but Ukrainians have no choice but to continue fighting and win.
