An attack was reported at the port of Sochi on Russia’s Black Sea coast on Thursday morning, according to monitoring channels.
Local residents reported seeing a cloud of smoke rising above the port.
The Ukrainian war-monitoring channel Exilenova+ reported that the port was attacked using naval drones.
Possible targets reportedly included a Pantsir missile and artillery air-defence system, Russian patrol boats, as well as a multipurpose support vessel used in oil and gas production operations.
Russia has been forced to use Sochi as a base for Black Sea Fleet and border guard vessels as Ukraine regularly attacks Sevastopol and Novorossiysk, which are located closer to the combat zone.
The port of Sochi is also used as a logistics hub for supplying equipment and military hardware.
