On the night into Tuesday, the 22nd of September, brief periods of rain are expected in western and central regions, with locally heavy downpours and thunderstorms possible. During the day, there will be occasional sunny spells, with rain expected only in some areas towards the evening, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Fog will form overnight across many areas in eastern Latvia and locally in the west. In some places, it will persist into the morning and reduce visibility. Winds will be light overnight, while along the coast – and during the day across the rest of the country – light to moderate northerly winds will prevail. Overnight temperatures will fall to +8°C to +13°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +14°C to +18°C.
On Wednesday, skies will be partly cloudy but will gradually become overcast from the east as a precipitation zone crosses Latvia from the east, bringing rain to most of the country. Thunderstorms are possible in some eastern areas overnight and in the morning. Winds will be light, while along the coast moderate to moderately strong northerly and north-easterly winds will prevail, with gusts reaching 15–16 m/s along the Gulf of Riga coast overnight and in the morning.
Minimum overnight temperatures will range from +9°C to +14°C, while daytime highs will reach +11°C to +15°C, and up to +17°C along the Baltic Sea coast.
On Thursday, skies will be mostly cloudy, with rain expected in some areas during the first half of the night.
From the second half of the night, a new precipitation zone will cross Latvia from the east, bringing rain to most of the country, locally heavy and prolonged.
Fog will form in some western areas overnight and in the morning. Winds will be light, becoming moderate to moderately strong north-westerly and northerly along the coast during the day. From the afternoon, coastal gusts will reach 15–18 m/s. Overnight temperatures will fall to +8°C to +13°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to +11°C to +15°C.
Towards the end of the week, temperatures will remain similar and rainy weather will continue, with locally heavy downpours possible. On Sunday and Monday, temperatures will rise by a few degrees, sunny spells will become more frequent and the rain will ease.
