Trump delays higher tariffs for 90 days, sets 125% rate on Chinese imports

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he is postponing the implementation of increased tariffs for 90 days, applying a baseline rate of 10% to all countries except China.
“Due to China’s blatant lack of respect for global markets, I am therefore immediately raising the United States’ tariff rate on China to 125%,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
He stated that more than 75 countries have agreed to begin negotiations, and he has ordered a 90-day “pause” during which the general tariff rate will be reduced to 10%, effective immediately.
