This past weekend, Latvia’s weather was influenced by an anticyclone, with only light rain observed in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Similar weather conditions are expected at the beginning of the new week, with fog frequently reducing visibility overnight and in the morning. During the second half of the week, several precipitation zones will cross the country, bringing rain across Latvia, while winds will also strengthen. The temperature trend will remain similar to recent days, with daytime temperatures still reaching +15°C to +19°C.
On Tuesday, skies will be cloudy with only occasional clear spells, while light rain is expected in some areas. With light winds prevailing, fog will form in many places overnight and may persist into the morning in some areas. Minimum temperatures will range from +8°C to +13°C, dropping to around +6°C in places where skies clear. During the day, temperatures will rise to +16°C to +20°C.
On Wednesday, the sun will occasionally appear between the clouds, and conditions will remain dry across most of the country.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre says that
a broad area of precipitation will approach Latvia from the west
in the evening, bringing rain only to the sea coast on Wednesday but spreading to many parts of the country on Thursday.
Light to moderate southerly winds will prevail, gradually shifting to the south-west and west along the sea coast and strengthening, with gusts reaching up to 14 m/s. Fog will form in some eastern areas on Wednesday night. Minimum temperatures will range from +10°C to +15°C, while daytime temperatures are expected to reach +15°C to +20°C.
The end of the week will remain moderately warm, with periods of precipitation. Winds will strengthen in some areas, mainly along the coast, while on Saturday gusty conditions are expected across a wider part of the country.
