Spending on sickness benefits in 2025 amounted to 373.81 million euros, which is 14.64 million euros or approximately 4% more than in 2024, when 359.17 million euros was paid out, according to data published by the State Social Insurance Agency.
Spending on unemployment benefits in 2025 reached 189.16 million euros, which is 3.9 million euros more than in 2024, when these expenses were 185.26 million euros.
Parental benefits in 2025 totalled 132.78 million euros, which is 4.14 million euros more than in 2024, when spending reached 128.64 million euros.
Maternity and paternity benefits in 2025 amounted to 64.94 million euros, which is 2.64 million euros more than the previous year, when 62.3 million euros was spent.
Spending on social services related to workplace accidents in 2025 reached 109.24 million euros,
which is 12.19 million euros more than 97.05 million euros in 2024.
According to the presentation, 427.47 million euros is planned for sickness benefits in 2026, which is 53.66 million euros or 14.4% more than in 2025.
The average sickness benefit in 2026 is planned at 1,802.04 euros per month, which is 198.16 euros or 12.4% more than in 2025, when the average was 1,603.88 euros. The planned number of recipients in 2026 is 19,800 people on average per month, which is 400 more than in 2025.
For unemployment benefits, 206.13 million euros is planned in 2026, which is 16.97 million euros or 9% more than in 2025.
The average unemployment benefit in 2026 is planned at 544.67 euros per month,
which is 32.18 euros or 6.3% more than in 2025, when it was 512.49 euros. The planned number of recipients is 31,500 people on average per month, which is 700 more than in 2025.
Parental benefits in 2026 are planned at 150.78 million euros, which is 18 million euros or 13.6% more than in 2025.
Maternity and paternity benefits in 2026 are planned at 68.39 million euros, which is 3.45 million euros or 5.3% more than in 2025.
This year, increases are also planned in the average amounts of maternity, paternity, and parental benefits. The average maternity benefit is planned at 5,631.53 euros per month, which is 222 euros or 4.1% more than in 2025, when it was 5,409.53 euros, according to VSAA data on the performance indicators of these benefits for 2021–2026.
The number of recipients of maternity benefits is expected to be slightly lower
— 890 people on average per month compared to 900 the previous year.
The average paternity benefit in 2026 is planned at 951.64 euros per month, which is 71.27 euros or 8.1% more than in 2025, when it was 880.37 euros, while the number of recipients is expected to reach 710 people on average per month compared to 623 in 2025.
The average parental benefit in 2026 is also expected to increase — to 859.91 euros per month, which is 74.15 euros or 9.4% more than in 2025, when it was 785.76 euros. The number of recipients is expected to rise to 14,600 people on average per month compared to 14,100 last year.
Meanwhile, the planned amount for social services related to workplace accidents in 2026 is 121.61 million euros, which is 12.37 million euros or 11.3% more than in 2025.
The average amount of social payments and compensation for workplace accidents in 2026 is planned at 641.88 euros per month, which is 32.35 euros or 5.3% more than in 2025, when it averaged 609.53 euros. The number of recipients is expected to be 15,790 people on average per month, which is 850 more than in 2025.
