Russian veteran MP Zirinovsky dies

In Moscow, veteran Russian member of the State Duma Vladimir Zirinovsky has died, Radio Free Europe reports.
On Wednesday, April 6, Russian State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated that the far-right politician had died after a «long and serious illness.» Zhirinovsky had been in a Moscow hospital since early February after testing positive for Covid-19 and developing pneumonia.

Zirinovsky had been a prominent figure in the Russian Stated Duma, the lower house of parliament, since 1993, when his misleadingly-named Liberal Democratic Party of Russia firs gained voter support. This was in the first legislative elections since the collapse of the Soviet Union two years earlier.
The politician infamous for his aggressive, nationalist rhetoric has ran for Russian President five times never receiving 10% of the vote, Radio Free Europe reports.
