Russia publishes a “target list” – Latvia included

The actions of the Ministry of Defence of Russia in publicly naming and threatening drone manufacturers cooperating with Ukraine demonstrate the aggressor state’s readiness to continue hostile activities on Latvian territory, according to the State Security Service of Latvia.

Last week, Russia’s Ministry of Defence published a list of companies from various countries, including European ones, which Moscow claims produce attack drones and their components for Ukraine. The list, titled “Branches of Ukrainian companies in Europe,” includes 11 companies, among them businesses located in London, Munich, Riga, Vilnius, and Prague.

Commenting on this announcement, Latvia’s security service told the LETA news agency that it has already previously informed the public about hostile activities carried out or planned on Latvian territory in the interests of the aggressor state Russia, including those targeting objects connected to support for Ukraine.

“Such public statements from Russia only confirm its readiness to continue carrying out such activities in Latvia,”

the VDD emphasized.

The service also noted that, within its mandate, it continuously monitors developments in the information space and society in order to identify and prevent various threats to national security in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, commenting on the Defence Ministry’s statement, said that this “is a list of potential targets of the Russian Armed Forces.” “When these strikes become reality depends on what happens next,” Medvedev stated.
