Russia issues protest over Latvian border guards’ treatment of Russian tourists

On Wednesday, 27 July, Russia issued a protest to Latvia over the way Latvian border guards treat Russian citizens entering the country, as reported by spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ivan Nyechaev.
«On 27 July Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called in Latvia’s interim official in the Russian Federation Dace Rutka. She was issued a protest and presented a note over provocative actions employed by Latvian border guards that pressure Russian citizens entering Latvia,» Nyechaev said at a press-conference in Moscow.
According to him, Russian tourists are asked by Latvian border guards to sign a printed document that reads they do not agree with the policy employed by the Russian Federation.
