At the end of May 2022 the level of registered unemployment in Latvia was 6.1% of the economically active population, which is 0.4 percentage points lower than at the end of April, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).
At the end of May 2022 there were 53 825 unemployed persons registered with NVA, which is 3 398 people fewer than a month prior, when 57 223 unemployed persons were registered with the agency.
Registered unemployment level was the lowest in Riga region at the end of May – 4.4% of the economically active population, which is 0.2 percentage points less than a month prior. Unemployment remains the highest in Latgale region – 13.5%, which is a drop of 0.7 percentage points when compared to the end of April.
The level of unemployment registered in May dropped by 0.6 percentage points in Kurzeme and Vidzeme,
reaching 6.3% and 6.5% of economically active population respectively.
In Zemgale the registered unemployment level dropped by 0.5 percentage points in May, reaching 5.8% of economically active population.
The unemployment level in Riga dropped by 0.2 percentage points in May, reaching 4.3% of economically active population.
At the end of 2021 the level of registered unemployment in Latvia was 6.7% of economically active population. At the end of April it was 6.5%.
