Although the new week will begin with slightly drier weather, with rain expected only in some areas and lighter winds, conditions will change from Tuesday afternoon as new cyclones strengthen their influence. Rain will spread across a wider area, while winds along the coast will become gusty. The weather will remain relatively warm, with daytime temperatures reaching +16°C to +21°C, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Monday, the 7th of September, skies will be partly cloudy. Brief rain is expected in some areas overnight, with locally heavy downpours and thunderstorms also possible. From midday onwards, clouds will continue to bring rain in places. During the night and early morning, fog will thicken in some areas, mainly in the west, reducing visibility.
Light to moderate westerly winds will prevail. Overnight temperatures will range from +8°C to +11°C, with warmer conditions along the coast at +11°C to +16°C. During the day, temperatures will reach +16°C to +21°C.
On Tuesday, sunny spells will alternate with clouds, bringing rain to some areas overnight and to many western regions in the afternoon. Fog will develop in places during the night and morning, mainly in eastern areas.
Light to moderate southerly and south-westerly winds will prevail, becoming gusty along the coast during the day.
Overnight temperatures will fall to +10°C to +14°C, while the far eastern regions will be cooler at +8°C to +10°C. Daytime temperatures will rise to +18°C to +22°C.
On Wednesday, cloud cover will increase, with sunshine appearing only occasionally. Rain is expected across many areas overnight and in some places during the day. Winds will continue to blow from the south and south-west, with gusts reaching up to 14 m/s along the Gulf of Riga coast overnight. Temperatures on Wednesday night will remain between +13°C and +17°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +17°C to +22°C.
For the remainder of the working week, Latvia’s weather will continue to be influenced by cyclonic activity. New precipitation zones will cross the country, while winds will become gusty on some days. Temperatures are not expected to change significantly and will remain broadly similar to those recorded at the beginning of the week.
