Progressive party announces its headliners for European Parliament elections

The leaders of Latvian Progressive Party for the upcoming European Parliament elections will be former presidential candidate Elīna Pinto and former Mayor of Riga Mārtiņš Staķis.
Pinto ran for presidency as a non-party candidate. She later joined Progressives, however. Staķis joined the party last week. He originally entered politics through Kustība Par political movement.
The political party notes that the list of candidates is a result of the vote of the members of the party’s board and members. When selecting candidates, members of the party took into account professional experience, civil activity, knowledge about the European Parliament, as well as their previous accomplishments in support of the party’s political goals.
