Presidential candidates in Latvia lack confident support from the public

LTV programme Kas notiek Latvijā? [What’s happening in Latvia?] reports results from various candidate assessment surveys performed by market and public opinion survey firm SKDS.
Data indicates that 35% of respondents – of a total of 1 005 respondents – do not support any of the three available presidential candidates. 12% said it is hard for them to say which one they support.
22% of respondents said they support New Unity’s candidate – Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs.

About as many respondents support Combined List party’s candidate Uldis Pīlēns (21%).

Progressive Party’s candidate Elina Pinto was mentioned by their preferred presidential candidate by 10% of respondents.
The survey was held in the second half of May. Elections of a new President of Latvia will take place in the Saeima on the 31st of May. There are three candidates in total, but none of them have a confident 51% support in the parliament.
