Multiple cyclones approach Latvia; meteorologists predict precipitation-rich week

This week, as multiple cyclones approach Latvia, weather will remain winter-like with snowing every now and then, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Strong wind is expected at the beginning of the week. With colder masses of air flowing to the country,

air temperature may drop as far as -14° C at times at the end of the week.

On Monday, the 6th of March, the amount of clouds in the sky will be volatile. Snowing is expected every now and then. The layer of snow will increase by 1 – 4 cm. Motorists are advised to be cautious – roads will be slippery! The wind will be slow to moderate and will blow from the west and south-west. Daytime air temperature will reach +1° C… -2° C.
On Tuesday the sky will be covered by clouds. Some snowing is expected. The wind will be slow, but as the cyclone comes closer, wind speed will go up and reach high speed along the coast. At night air temperature in eastern parts of the country will go down to -8° C… -13° C. In western parts of the country air temperature will drop as far as -3° C… -8° C. Daytime air temperature will stay at -1°… +2° C.
In the middle of the week weather will be mostly cloudy. The sky will become clear in some parts of Latvia every now and then. On Wednesday, the 8th of March, a new precipitation zone will pass through the country. Meteorologists promise snowing – the layer of snow will increase by a couple of centimetres. Wind speed along the coast may reach 22 m/sec.
Visibility will go down during blizzards and roads will be slippery! Air temperature at night and during the day will be -1° C… -6° C. At the same time, air temperature may rise above 0° C during the day on Wednesday.
Similar weather will remain at the end of the week – some snowing is expected. With colder masses of air flowing to the country, air temperature may drop as far as -14° C.
