Meteorologists roll out this week’s weather forecast for Latvia

At the beginning of the week, with the cyclone slowly moving from Latvia’s territory, colder masses of air will start flowing to the country from then north. Eastern and central regions may experience snow and wet snow, according to Latvia’s Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
From Wednesday onward weather in Latvia will be dictated by a new cyclone – warmer masses of air will flow to the country, there will be more rain and the wind will become stronger.
On Monday, 8 November, weather will be cloudy in most of the country. Only western regions will experience clear sky. Rain at night is expected in all of Latvia. Some areas will experience lasting rainfall. During the day a wider precipitation zone will be hovering above Latvia’s eastern territories,
where rain will gradually become wet snow and snow. A layer of snow may form in some areas.
At night the wind will blow from the south-west and west. The wind will be strong along the coast. Wind will change direction to the north-west and will reach a speed of 15-17 m/sec (20-21 m/sec along the coast). Air temperature at night and during the day will stay within +2° C… +7° C. On Monday evening air temperature will drop to 0° C.
On the night to Tuesday some roads will become iced over and slippery. This means drivers have to be careful and prepare their vehicle for winter conditions!
Tuesday night will be clear and air temperature will drop to -2° C… -5° C.
The first half of the day will be mostly sunny. There will be more clouds in the afternoon. Wind speed will be low and maximum air temperature will be +1° C… +6° C.
From Wednesday onward, however, Latvia will once again experience precipitation-rich weather. The sky will be cloudy and many areas will experience rain and even wet snow.
Meteorologists predict strong south-west and south wind. From Friday onward the wind will change direction to the west and north-west. Air temperature in eastern parts of Latvia will drop to -2° C… +3° C at night. In the rest of the country, however, air temperature will remain above 0° C. Air temperature in eastern parts of the country will drop to -2° C… +3° C. Maximum daytime air temperature will be +2° C… +6° C (+7° C… +10° C along the coast).
