Media: Latvia and Lithuania ban Serbian President’s plane from entering their airspace on route to Moscow

Latvia and Lithuania have banned the aircraft carrying Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić from entering their airspace en route to Moscow, where Vučić plans to attend events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany, according to the news portal Meduza, citing Serbian media.
The outlets Novosti and Kurir report that Latvian authorities denied overflight clearance due to the flight’s “politically sensitive purpose,” while Lithuanian authorities rejected the request citing “technical and diplomatic sensitivities.”
Lithuania and Poland have also reportedly denied airspace access to a plane that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico intends to use to travel to Moscow for the 9th of May celebrations, according to the same Serbian media sources.
