Latvia’s National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) has applied a fine of EUR 10 000 to Russian independent television channel TV Rain for the report which featured Crimea as part of Russia’s territory and Russian occupying forces in Ukraine are called «our army», as reported by NEPLP chairman Ivars Āboliņš.
Additionally, an administrative violation procedure has commenced over the footage and the report shown by TV Rain, said the chairman.
This is the second time in three months when TV Rain has committed a severe violation of rules for broadcasters in Latvia, said Āboliņš, stressing that after three sever violations NEPLP will have the right to annul the channel’s license in Latvia.

He also said that while based in Latvia TV Rain is obligated to respect and follow the country’s laws.
