A study by DeskTime, a Draugiem Group company, reveals that the artificial intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT is used by more than 78% of companies in Latvia, beating the global average of 76%. The data shows that the use of various AI tools in workplaces around the world has grown rapidly over the past two years.
AI tools in general – not only ChatGPT, but also Midjourney, Google Gemini, Claude and others – are used by 83% of Latvian companies, also ahead of the rest of the world (80%).
Last year also saw an increase in personal use of AI tools, with almost 28% of employees in Latvia using ChatGPT by the end of the year. Compared to 17% in December 2023, the use of AI tools in Latvia has increased by almost two thirds.
Furthermore, not only the number of people using ChatGPT has increased, but also the usage of it. In 2024, compared to 2023, employees spent 30.5% more time on ChatGPT.
“Today, one in three office workers use ChatGPT, and more than ever before. The rate at which people are adopting AI tools for their jobs is extremely fast. It would not be surprising if by the end of 2025, AI is used in all workplaces around the world,” said Artis Rozentāls, CEO of DeskTime.
Globally, India is the undisputed leader in the implementation of ChatGPT. There, by the end of 2024, more than 92% of companies and almost 59% of employees were using the AI tool. In the US, where ChatGPT started, nearly three quarters of companies use AI, but only 28% of employees use it.
