At the beginning of the workweek, weather conditions across Latvia will be influenced by a high-pressure system. On Monday and Tuesday, sunshine will alternate with passing clouds, but conditions will remain dry, with light winds throughout the country.
By midweek, however, a low-pressure system approaching from the west will gradually bring a change in the weather. Rain clouds are expected to spread across much of Latvia during the second half of the week. While temperatures on Monday will not exceed +24°C, warmer summer conditions will arrive by midweek, with daytime highs reaching +24°C to +29°C across most of the country. Cooler air is then expected to move in over the weekend, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Monday and Tuesday, skies will be partly cloudy and dry. Light winds will prevail, allowing fog to develop in some areas during the night and early morning, reducing visibility. Overnight temperatures will range between +10°C and +15°C, while daytime highs will reach +22°C to +27°C across most of Latvia, and +19°C to +23°C along the coast.
On Wednesday, skies will remain partly cloudy, but cloud cover will gradually increase in western regions during the afternoon.
Rain is expected in many areas, and there is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms. Winds will remain light.
Nighttime temperatures will fall to +11°C to +16°C, while in some coastal areas of Kurzeme they will remain no lower than +18°C.
During the day, under bright sunshine, temperatures will climb to between +25°C and +29°C, while coastal areas will see highs of +21°C to +25°C.
During the second half of the week, cloud cover will continue to increase, bringing periods of rain to different parts of the country. Rain is expected to become widespread overnight into Thursday. Thursday will remain hot, with temperatures reaching +24°C to +29°C across nearly all of Latvia. From Friday, however, a cooler air mass will move into the region, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures. Over the weekend, daytime highs are expected to range between +17°C and +22°C.
