Suspended Director of the State Chancellery of Latvia Raivis Kronbergs has left his position as of today, the State Chancellery announced.
The state civil service relationship has been terminated based on a mutual agreement with outgoing Prime Minister Evika Siliņa of New Unity (JV).
Until a new head of the State Chancellery is appointed, the duties will be performed by Deputy Director of the State Chancellery for Legal Affairs Inese Gailīte.
Initially, Siliņa had suspended Kronbergs from his duties until the 13th of June.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved Kronbergs for the position of Director of the State Chancellery on the 23rd of July, 2024, and he officially assumed office on the 12th of August of the same year.
As previously reported, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB), acting on instructions from the prosecution office, detained Kronbergs last Thursday for procedural actions in the so-called “timber industry case.” Kronbergs was released later that same Thursday evening.
