How far have Baltic States progressed with Covid-19 vaccination?

937 495 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in Latvia so far. 866 254 people have completed the vaccination course, which is equal to 46.02% of the country’s population, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia on the provisional population size as of the state of July 2021.
760 878 people in Estonia or 57.25% of the population have received at least one jab. 709 767 of them have completed the vaccination course, which is equal to 53.41% of Estonia’s population, according to information from Estonia’s official Covid-19 portal vaktsineeri.ee.
In Lithuania 1 752 250 people in Lithuania have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine jab, which is equal to 62.7% of the population. 1 620 623 (58%) have completed the vaccination course, according to Lithuania’s official Covid-19 portal osp.stat.gov.lt.
On Monday, 4 October, 3 734 people in Latvia received the first, second or third jab. The percentage of fully-vaccinated residents in Latvia has reached 46.02%, according to the latest information from the National Health Service.
A look at different groups of residents reveals 53.87% of Latvia’s population that have reached 18 years have completed the vaccination course.
The same data reveals 52.40% of Latvia’s residents aged older than 12 years have completed the vaccination course. The EU generally does not yet vaccinate residents younger than 12 years.
According to information from NVD, 41 752 people were vaccinated for Covid-19 in Latvia last week, which is 2% more than a week prior, when vaccination rates were 20% higher when compared to a week prior.

A look at vaccination data for the week reveals that since mid-September the average number of people vaccinated every day has increased. On 6 September a total of 4 675 people were vaccinated in Latvia. The week starting from 13 September 4 902 people were vaccinated, the week from 20 September – 5 875 were vaccinated, and the week from 27 September 5 965 people were vaccinated.
Covid-19 vaccination rate remains far behind what was observed at the end of May 2020, when 16 700 people were vaccinated on average every week.
On Monday, 1 296 people in Latvia received the first Covid-19 vaccine jab, 1 211 received the second, and 1 223 were vaccinated using Johnson&Johnson vaccine, which requires only one dose. 156 received booster shots, according to data from NVD.
156 healthcare institutions in Latvia were engaged in Covid-19 vaccination activities on Monday.
There are four Covid-19 vaccines approved for use in the EU: Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and J&J or Janssen.
