Latvia is set for a spell of hot summer weather, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 30°C over the weekend, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Friday, sunshine will alternate with clouds, but the weather will remain dry across the country. With light winds, patches of fog are expected to develop overnight and during the early morning hours in some areas, reducing visibility. Daytime temperatures will reach 23–28°C, although coastal areas will remain a few degrees cooler.
The weather will become more changeable over the weekend. On Saturday, cloud cover will increase, bringing rain to eastern Latvia, while isolated thunderstorms are also expected.
Rain clouds will continue to affect eastern regions during the night into Sunday.
Dry weather is forecast to return on Monday, while Tuesday is expected to bring rain showers to many parts of the country.
Saturday is forecast to be the hottest day of the week, with temperatures rising to 25–30°C. Cooler conditions are expected on Sunday, when daytime highs will range between 20°C and 25°C.
