Germany assumes its population to be vaccinated, recovered or dead by spring

The German federal government has made a harsh forecast about the effects of Covid-19 on its population, one third of which has not been vaccinated against the disease, US broadcaster CNBC reports.
In a press conference in Berlin on Monday, November 22, the country’s acting Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn said: «Some would say this is cynical but probably by the end of this winter, pretty much everyone in Germany will be vaccinated, recovered or dead … That’s the reality».
Spahn explained that the contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus was to blame for the fourth wave of the pandemic in Germany. The official added «that is why we so urgently recommend vaccination.»

Germany is considering whether or not to impose more stringent epidemiological measures and even a partial lockdown like its neighbour, the Netherlands. In the context of Western Europe, Germany has one of the lower vaccination rates with 68% of its population fully vaccinated, moreover only 7% have received a booster vaccine, CNBC reports.
