Flames in Old Riga: popular bar The Sinners destroyed by fire

A fire broke out this morning in Old Riga, burning across an area of 300 square meters at The Sinners bar, the LETA news agency has learned.

The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) reported that at 6:18 a.m. a call was received to Grēcinieku Street, where a fire had started in public premises located on the ground floor of a six-storey residential building.

LETA has learned that the fire occurred at 11A Grēcinieku Street, and publicly available information indicates that this address houses the Sinners nightclub and a bar of the same name.

The owner of The Sinners Bar, Miks Galvanovskis, stated on Instagram that the Sinners bar caught fire for unknown reasons after closing hours.

“We do not know what the future holds, but for now our operations are suspended,”

the bar owner added.

Before the arrival of firefighters, three people were evacuated from the building, while rescuers evacuated four more.

At 7:21 a.m., the spread of the flames was contained. The total affected area is 300 square meters.

Firefighters continue working at the scene, and traffic in the area remains restricted.
