Last night, a highly dangerous fire broke out at a timber production site in Saldus, as reported by the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD).
Fire fighters received a call about a fire at a timber production site in Zirņu Parish at 02:19 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, fire fighters found the roof of a one-storey building on fire with flames spreading to nearby buildings. Putting out the fire was particularly difficult because there was a lot of flammable materials at the site.
The massive fire that engulfed 450 m2 of a production building, 300 m2 of a nearby building, 110 m2 of a nearby shed, as well as a wood chip bunker and a pile of wood chips with an area of 100 m2 was finally localised at 05:13 a.m.
Fire fighters managed to protect three nearby buildings, as well as the company’s vehicles and ready-made products from fire.
VUGD reports that fire fighters remain at the site.
