EU top diplomat goes to Ukraine to visit conflict zone

Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign and defence representative, is on a visit to Ukraine from Tuesday, January 4, as his first trip of the year 2022.
The European Commission wrote in a press release that the working visit would continue until Thursday, January 6.
«His first foreign trip this year underscores EU’s strong support to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity at a time when the country is confronted with Russian military build-up and hybrid actions,» the representatives of the European Commission wrote.

In the Eastern European country with a population of 41 million, Borrell plans to visit both Kyiv and the east of Ukraine and the line of contact of the Donbas War, accompanied by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, according to the EU executive body.
