Public transport services, international passenger carrying services and tax services will remain available to residents regardless of their vaccination state, notes the Ministry of Transport.
At the same time, to reduce risks, adults who do not have a vaccination or recovery certificate will not be provided with discounts in public transports. At the same time, public transport capacity is not to exceed 80%.
Considering that the epidemiological situation remains dangerous and Covid-19 continues to spread, the ministry urges residents to be responsible and comply with all active epidemiological safety precautions and use public transport services only for emergencies. Every person’s responsible behaviour helps halt the spread of the virus and speed up Latvia’s recovery and return to a normal life, the ministry reminds.
During the state of emergency all epidemiological safety measures will remain in place for public transports. Services are provided in the unsafe or red regime. This means residents are not required to have a Covid-19 vaccination or recovery certificate on them to use public transport services.
Public transport service providers that receive grants from the municipality will not be allowed to provide discounts to adult customers who are not vaccinated.
At the same time, municipal administrations may decide on application of discounts or compensation of the full amount for general and vocational education institution students.
Discounts will remain for 1st and 2nd group invalids and their escorts.
Public transports will need to be disinfected regularly. It is also required to keep the interior naturally ventilated. Passengers will need to wear protective masks and maintain a safe distance from each other during the trip.
