Enjoy the warmth while it lasts – cyclone to reach Latvia this weekend

The sun will alternate with clouds across Latvia on Tuesday. Brief showers are expected in some areas, while thunderstorms are possible during the first half of the night. Fog will form in places overnight, reducing visibility, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

Light to moderate northwesterly to northerly winds will prevail. Overnight temperatures will fall to between +14°C and +19°C, with some parts of Kurzeme a few degrees cooler. During the day, temperatures across most of the country will reach +22°C to +27°C.

Cloud cover will decrease on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday is expected to remain largely dry, while light rain is forecast in eastern Latvia on Thursday. Light to moderate northerly winds will continue. Night-time temperatures will range from +13°C to +18°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to +23°C to +27°C, remaining a few degrees lower along the coast.

By the end of the week, a cyclone will approach Latvia, bringing more frequent rainfall and strengthening winds with gusts. Cumulonimbus clouds will become more active, increasing the likelihood of thunderstorms.

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre forecasts overnight temperatures of +13°C to +18°C, while daytime highs will reach +21°C to +26°C in many parts of the country. At the beginning of next week, a cooler air mass will move into Latvia, with daytime temperatures expected to remain between +17°C and +19°C.
