Although some areas of Latvia will see brief showers, temperatures are expected to continue rising, with the hottest weather of the week arriving on Thursday, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Thursday, the 6th of August, skies will be partly cloudy, with brief showers expected in some areas, mainly in southern Latvia.
Winds will remain light overnight before strengthening during the day and shifting to the southwest and west. Overnight temperatures will range between +17°C and +20°C, while daytime highs will climb to +26°C to +31°C. Parts of Kurzeme and coastal areas will remain cooler, with temperatures between +21°C and +24°C.
On Friday, sunshine will alternate with clouds. Rain is expected overnight in eastern Latvia, while isolated thunderstorms are possible in the southeastern regions. During the day, brief showers will spread to other parts of the country.
Light to moderate southwesterly to westerly winds will prevail, becoming gusty overnight and in the morning along the coast, where gusts may reach 15 m/s. Overnight temperatures will fall to +15°C to +19°C, while daytime temperatures will drop significantly, reaching +20°C to +24°C, and only +18°C to +20°C in western Latvia.
Clouds will dominate the skies over the weekend, although there will still be periods of sunshine.
On Saturday, rain is expected across many parts of the country, while Sunday is forecast to remain largely dry with no significant precipitation.
A cooler air mass will move into Latvia from Friday, keeping weekend daytime temperatures between +18°C and +23°C.
At the beginning of next week, a large cyclone will approach Latvia from the north, bringing increased cloud cover. Tuesday is expected to see widespread rainfall across much of the country, while winds will become increasingly gusty.
Although Monday will still feel summery, temperatures during the first half of next week are expected to remain only a few degrees above +20°C on most days.
