The level of unemployment in Latvia was 6.5% in August, and was higher than the average in the European Union and lower than in Eurozone, according to data published by Eurostat.
According to available data, unemployment among EU member states was higher in Spain (12.4%), Greece (12.2%), Cyprus (8.6%), Italy (7.8%), France (7.3%), Sweden (7.2%) and Finland (7%).
Unemployment was the lowest in the Czech Republic (2.4%), Poland (2.6%), Malta (2.9%) and Germany (3%). In Estonia unemployment was 5.8% and in Lithuania (5.2%).
Average unemployment in the EU, according to seasonally adjusted data, was 6% in August. In Eurozone member states it was 6.6%.
Data from Eurostat indicates that in August 2022 there were 12.921 million jobless people in Europe, with 10.966 million of which in Eurozone member states.
