During the first half of this week, Latvia experienced more changeable weather conditions, with the synoptic situation determined by a large cyclone over Northern Europe that brought precipitation and gusty winds. During the night leading into Wednesday, an anticyclone approached Latvia, and under its influence, the second half of the week will be mostly dry and sunnier, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Thursday, the 13th of August, skies will be partly cloudy, with no significant precipitation expected during the day. Light to moderate westerly winds will prevail. Overnight temperatures will fall to +7°C to +12°C, while many coastal areas will remain slightly warmer at +12°C to +16°C. Daytime highs will reach +19°C to +23°C.
LIGHT RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE IN SOME EASTERN AREAS ON FRIDAY, WHILE SATURDAY IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN LARGELY DRY.
Fog will develop in some areas overnight and during the morning hours, becoming particularly dense in Kurzeme on Friday. Winds will be light on Friday, while moderate southerly winds are also expected in some areas on Saturday.
Overnight minimum temperatures will range from +13°C to +18°C, although some areas will be a few degrees cooler during the night leading into Friday. Daytime temperatures will generally reach +21°C to +25°C. On Friday, it will be slightly cooler in some eastern areas and along the coast, while on Saturday temperatures could climb as high as +28°C in some places.
Towards the end of this week and at the beginning of next week, skies will become cloudier more frequently, with occasional precipitation. From Monday onwards, temperatures will gradually begin to fall, although daytime conditions will generally remain warm and summery.
