More dynamic weather conditions are expected in Latvia in the first half of the new week – the synoptic situation will be determined by a large cyclone over Northern Europe, which will bring more precipitation and gusty winds, reports the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Although Monday will start out warm as summer, a precipitation zone will reach Latvia in the afternoon, resulting in short-term rain in many places, thunderstorms are also possible in some places, and wind gusts will reach 15-17 m/s.
Rainy weather and gusty winds will persist on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the second half of the week will be mostly dry and sunnier.
Monday will start mostly sunny, however, in the afternoon clouds will bring short-term rain in many places, and thunderstorms are also possible locally. A slow to moderate southerly, southeasterly wind will blow at night, which will turn in from the south, southwesterly during the day and become gusty. Fog will form in places at night, which will worsen visibility. At night, the air will cool down to +10…+15°, on the coast it will remain a couple of degrees warmer,
during the day the maximum air temperature will be +23…+27°, in places on the coast +21…+23°.
On Tuesday, a precipitation zone will continue to cross the country – it will rain occasionally in most of the territory, thunderstorms and heavy rain are also expected in places. South-west, west wind will turn from the northwest from the middle of the day, west, on the coast and also under some cumulus clouds, gusts will reach 15-18 m/s. Light rain is expected in many places on Wednesday. North-west, west wind on the coast of the bay and in eastern regions will remain in gusts up to 15-16 m/s. At night, the air will cool down to +11…+16°, during the day the thermometer will reach +17…+20°.
In the second half of the week, as the anticyclone strengthens, atmospheric pressure will increase, gusty winds will subside, and days will become sunnier. The days will be mostly without precipitation. The air temperature will gradually increase and will be warmer than in the middle of the week.
