On Monday, 13 June, Tallinn installed the first street signs, informing residents of the closest public bomb shelters, as reported by ERR.
The first signs were installed near the underground parking lots in Tallinn, Freedom Square. Estonian government reports plans to install such signs in other cities next year. Estonia’s Rescue Board reports that this month 23 possible shelters will be marked in Tallinn this month.
Next year signs will be installed in Estonia’s biggest cities, such as Tartu, Pärnu and Narva, as confirmed in the Rescue Board’s announcement.
The government in Estonia asked the board to map locations that can be used as shelters. This request was presented after the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
ERR, with reference to the Rescue Board, reports that in the next 12 months warning signs and a warning system network will be established in the entire country.
Estonia’s government also announced that the situation in the country is safe.
