Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy to address Latvian parliament

On Thursday, 26 May, the Saeima plans to receive hold a guest speech from Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Ukraine’s president will present his speech following an invitation from Saeima speaker Ināra Mūrniece.
The speech will be held remotely. It will be available to watch on Saeima’s website and Facebook account.
«In spite of the war and individual threats, Ukraine’s government continues tirelessly working. Mutual understanding between Latvia and Ukraine and political and practical cooperation is tighter than ever before. This is because we are united by a shared goal – Ukraine’s victory over the evil that is now cutting deep wounds on the European continent,» said Saeima’s speaker. Mūrniece stresses that Ukraine is heroically fighting against Russian occupants. President Zelenskyy continue inspiring a fair fight for freedom, and it is the fight for not only Ukraine’s freedom. Ukraine is protecting values that lie in the foundation of the entire democratic world – freedom, peace and democracy, BNN was told by Saeima’s press-service.
Mūrniece together with her counterparts from Estonia and Lithuania were the first parliament speakers that visited Kyiv and met with Ukraine’s president after the start of the war.
On 7 April Latvia’s Saeima hosted a speech from the chairman of Ukraine’s parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk. On 9 May Latvia was visited by the parliament’s vice-speaker Olena Kondratiuk.
