A procession will be held in Riga at 18:00 on Friday, 20 May. The procession For the liberation from Soviet heritage will follow this route: Freedom Square – Kaļķu Street – Stone Bridge – Victory Boulevard – Slokas Street – Victory Park.
State Police together with Riga municipal police will close down pedestrian and vehicle traffic (except public transport) along this route if such a need appears. Traffic will be closed until 18:10 of the same day.
Police will also monitor road traffic security and public order along the route, BNN was told by Riga City Council.
If need be, police will close off public transport traffic along the aforementioned route.
At the same time, Riga municipal public transport company Rīgas satiksme will organise 10th, 23rd and 26th bus and 27th trolleybus traffic from the city centre to the Victory Boulevard, then Valguma Street, Akmeņu Street and the rest of the route in the evening on Friday, 20 May.
BNN previously reported, the procession organised to demand immediate demolition of the Soviet monument in Victory Park may include approximately 5 000 participants, according to the information provided to Riga City Council.
The procession is planned to start at 18:00 and conclude at 20:00.
