Motorists under pressure as Estonian retailers set new petrol price record

With motor fuel prices continuing to increase in the Baltics, Estonian motorists witnessed another record in the retail price of petrol 95 on Thursday, February 3, and representatives of gas station networks did not see immediate chances of bringing it down, Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports.
The price of a litre of petrol 95 in Estonia reached EUR 1.659 on Thursday, adding two euro cents to the previous record set in the last week of January.

Indrek Sass, the manager of sales at fuel retail network Circle K, explained the purchase prices of motor fuels on the world market have stayed at a five-year high for over a week.
At Circle K’s rival Alexela, its board member Tarmo Kärsna noted to ERR: «Last week, the price of oil jumped steadily to USD 90-91 [(EUR 78.77-79.65) per barrel], and this price will reach our filling stations after a delay.»
