In light of increasingly frequent attacks by Houthi rebels from Yemen, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly advises against travel to Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries, reports ERR News. The Ministry stated that it advises against visiting Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region because the security situation in the Middle East is highly volatile and unpredictable. New attacks occur without warning, while an escalation of the situation could lead to air traffic disruptions and potential border closures. The Ministry has urged Estonian citizens currently in the region to exercise extreme caution, avoid crowded places and events, and follow the instructions of local authorities. Travelers should also register their location on the Ministry’s travel website to ensure rapid communication if necessary. In recent days, Houthi rebels from Yemen have intensified attacks on Saudi Arabia, targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. On the evening of the 11th of October, the Houthis launched an attack on the international airport in Riyadh, killing 12 people and injuring more than 300. This is the deadliest terrorist attack on Saudi Arabia in the last decade.Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure constitute a gross violation of international law, and added that Estonia condemns the attacks carried out by the Houthis.
