Estonia puts Omniva up for sale – auction starting price set at 52 million euros

Estonia on Friday launched a public sealed-bid auction for the sale of shares in the state-owned postal company Eesti Post, operating under the Omniva brand, with a starting price of 52 million euros, Omniva announced.

The auction offers 100% of the shares in Eesti Post. The deadline for submitting bids is 27 November 2026.

Eesti Post serves customers in all three Baltic states and operates an international logistics network spanning more than ten countries. The company’s revenue reached 155 million euros in 2025.

The sale follows the Estonian government’s decision of 6 April 2026 to sell Eesti Post shares through a public auction.

Estonian Minister of Regional Affairs and Agriculture Hendrik Johannes Terras said the sale would reduce the state’s exposure to business and investment-related risks while creating better conditions for the company to attract investment, improve service quality and strengthen its competitiveness.

“The state’s role in postal services should primarily be regulatory rather than providing services as the owner of the company. Even after the change of ownership, home delivery of letters, newspapers and other periodicals will continue, as universal postal service requirements and other obligations related to the provision of postal services are stipulated in the Postal Act,” Terras said.

In recent years, Eesti Post’s operations have changed significantly, shifting from traditional nationwide postal services towards international logistics services. The universal postal service accounted for 5% of the company’s revenue in 2025. With annual revenue of 155 million euros, Eesti Post has become one of the leading logistics groups in the Baltics.

The sale will not affect the provision of the universal postal service or the home delivery of newspapers and other periodicals in Estonia. Eesti Post will continue to provide these services in accordance with the requirements of the Postal Act, while the state will retain its regulatory and supervisory role.

The auction is being organised by advisers to the Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture, Superia and Redgate Capital.

As previously reported, the Omniva Group delivered a total of 36 million parcels across the Baltic states last year.

In Latvia, SIA Omniva recorded revenue of 24.321 million euros last year, an increase of 4.3% compared with the previous year, while the company’s profit decreased by 11.3% to 1.711 million euros. Meanwhile, the Omniva Group generated revenue of 154.7 million euros last year, up 9.4% year-on-year, while its profit amounted to 5.9 million euros.

Omniva is an international technology and logistics group providing postal, parcel and e-commerce logistics services across the Baltic states and worldwide. The group consists of its parent company AS Eesti Post and its subsidiaries Finbite and Picapac in Estonia, Omniva in Latvia, and Omniva LT and Omniva LT Sorting in Lithuania. Eesti Post is wholly owned by the Estonian state.
