The hottest day of the week is still ahead, with temperatures in parts of Latvia expected to reach as high as 30°C on Friday, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Wednesday and Thursday, sunshine will alternate with clouds, while conditions are expected to remain largely dry across the country.
Light westerly winds will prevail, and fog may develop in some areas overnight and during the early morning hours, reducing visibility.
Night-time temperatures will fall to +11°C to +16°C. Daytime highs will reach +21°C to +24°C on Wednesday and +22°C to +27°C on Thursday, although many coastal areas will remain slightly cooler.
The weather will become more unsettled towards the end of the week.
A band of rain is forecast to move into Latvia from the west on Friday morning, continuing across the country into the night leading into Saturday. During the day, another area of rain is expected to approach from the southwest, bringing widespread showers and locally heavy thunderstorms to many parts of the country.
Current forecasts indicate that Friday will be the hottest day of the week, with temperatures exceeding +25°C across almost all of Latvia and reaching up to +30°C in some locations.
Warm conditions are expected to continue through the weekend and into the beginning of next week, when daytime temperatures will generally range between +20°C and +25°C, with a few areas likely to be several degrees warmer.
