Cloudy skies will continue across Latvia on Wednesday, the 22nd of July, with only occasional breaks in the cloud cover, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Overnight, thunderstorms and heavy downpours are expected to continue in parts of eastern Latvia. During the day, periods of rain will mainly affect the country’s central and eastern regions.
Fog may develop overnight and during the early morning in some eastern areas, reducing visibility. Winds will remain light, although they will strengthen slightly along the Kurzeme coast during the morning, blowing from the north and northwest at light to moderate speeds.
Night-time temperatures will fall to +10°C to +15°C, while daytime highs will reach +15°C to +20°C.
On Thursday, skies will remain mostly cloudy with occasional sunny intervals,
while Friday is expected to bring somewhat more sunshine as cloud cover decreases.
Rain on Thursday will mainly affect southern Latvia, while on Friday showers are forecast for parts of central and eastern regions. Localised heavy downpours and isolated thunderstorms are possible on Thursday, as well as during the early hours of Friday in the country’s southeastern districts.
Winds will stay light throughout the period. Temperatures will remain similar to previous days, although much of Latvia is expected to see daytime temperatures of around +20°C on Friday.
Over the weekend and into the beginning of next week, sunshine will alternate with clouds, including occasional rain clouds bringing scattered showers. Light winds will continue to prevail.
As warmer air gradually moves into Latvia from the south, temperatures will rise, with daytime highs exceeding +20°C across much of the country by the start of next week.
