Sunny Wednesday, but sharp weather change expected in Latvia over the weekend

On Wednesday, skies will be mostly cloudy, but they are expected to gradually clear in many areas during the day, bringing periods of sunshine, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

The day will be largely dry, with only light rain possible in eastern regions during the first half of the night. Winds will remain light, and dense fog may form in some areas overnight and in the morning, reducing visibility. Nighttime temperatures will drop to between -2°C and +3°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to +8°C to +13°C. Coastal areas will be cooler, with temperatures of +2°C to +7°C.

On Thursday and Friday, skies will be partly cloudy, with more cloud cover expected in western and coastal regions. On Friday afternoon, light rain is forecast in some western and central areas. Winds will remain light, and fog will become widespread overnight and in the morning. Nighttime temperatures will fall to between +1°C and -3°C.

During the day, temperatures will reach +8°C to +12°C, with some areas seeing up to +14°C on Thursday,

while coastal regions remain cooler at +3°C to +8°C.

Over the weekend, winds will gradually shift to the southwest and west, strengthening and becoming gusty. On the night into Saturday, temperatures may still drop below 0°C in some places. Daytime temperatures on Saturday will reach only +5°C to +8°C, while on Sunday they will range between +7°C and +12°C.

As a low-pressure system approaches, rain is expected across much of the country over the weekend.
